It was so good at one stage, people walked out the room holding their stomachs and laughing so much. Things like fantastic, out of this world, etc was used.

Des is also called upon to do “serious” singing. Some of his clients only book him for his singing talents. He sings at weddings, Charity Fundraisers and as a trained classical singer, he brings a fresh feel to songs by Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Lionel Richie and most evergreen favourites by popular artists.
Des Meyer is also a well experienced Master of Ceremonies. He has performed many fun auctions for Social Charity Evenings. He has also performed as an after dinner guest speaker for many large corporations, and he tells stories of a South African flavour in a way few can do...his accents and dialects are spot-on, and the audience is always left wondering....What’s next ??? .... Who’s next ???
Des not only provides his audience with a wide range of humour and song , but he is also an on-stage cartoon artist, whereby he calls members of the audience to the stage, where he sits them down and draws them on A2 board, using koki’s and chalks...while chatting with them about the “pose they prefer to be in....” It’s extremely entertaining, and fun for the person drawn as they get to keep the artwork...warts and all.
Des provides all his own sound and lighting equipment for shows in the Western Cape, but travels all over the country with his “bag of tricks” to entertain clients who have their own sound arrangements.

DES MEYER
Des Meyer is a singer, comedian, guest speaker....and larger than life entertainer with incredible talents. Born in Durban, Des has been involved in music and entertainment virtually all his life. His mother and father both sang and played the piano, and Des has been a singer since he could talk. He sang in the Durban Boys Choir as a youngster, and has been playing in bands, comedy revues and musicals ever since. His band “Town Talk Dance Band”, won an international award as the Best Band in the “Musiekmakers” competition run by the then SWABC, in Windhoek in 1986. He continued as a solo entertainer until 1997 when he joined up with Deon Derrick of “Balleyhoo” and formed “High Society”, an up-class comedy showband which toured nationwide, performing at various black-tie award dinners for clients such as Sanlam, ABSA, and the KZN Rugby Union.
Des is an impersonator of note....not only does he talk like the stars...He sings like them too. A typical evening with Des may consist of performances by Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, Tom Jones, The Bee Gees, Elton John, Julio Iglesias, Will Young....as well as stirring speeches from Madiba, Thabo Mbeki, Eugene Terre’Blanche, the Queen of England as well as Jacob Zuma. It’s all done tongue-in-cheeck, and Des does not use foul language in any of his shows. He believes in the age-old adage “You don’t have to swear to be funny....”
